Sticky Speed Camera Detectors

Post by carts on Thu Feb 18, 2010 5:40 am

Thanks Tony... now here's some info i posted on the other......

I feel I must recommend these two items for anyone driving on or above the legal limits, or even just for that moment of misjudgement.

1. Valentine one Radar / laser detector. http://www.valentine1.com

2. Laser pro park sensor ( with a twist ). http://www.laserprotector.com

I have both and have been more than satisfied with there detection and working.

The Valentine one detects various different types of speed detection but has front and rear sensors making it very reliable.

The Laser pro flashes a light / sounds a bleeper when activated and can even be connected to your stereo for muting, so no chance of missing it being triggered.

I won’t write pages of stuff on these but have included website links

Front sensor head

The Laser pro works in 2 ways one of which is completely legal, it’s a parking sensor, just like the ones lots of us fit on the rear of our trucks, this one can be fitted at the front, (they offer 2 head units so rear is also possible). It’s not as accurate as the 4 head ultrasonic ones fitted mainly on rear of vehicles, but that’s its legal side. The twist is that the frequency 904nm used by law enforcement agencies (cops etc) used for laser guns is not a licensed or prohibited frequency to use!

The Laser pro is active 1 minute after power up; the first minute is used for diagnostic checks. A green led mounted inside the car flashes (unless covert mode is in use) and turns red if you get to close to an object in front (range can also be programmed up to 3 meters). It also has a bleeper that increases in tone when getting to close.

The other side of it is if it has a laser on the 904nm pointed at it, it jams the signal for 6 seconds (before shutting down for 1 minute), sounding the bleeper inside the car/ truck, activates the led red and if wired to mutes the stereo and then shuts down. The laser device / gun device pointing at it doesn’t read and doesn’t even show an error code, the reason for the 6 seconds is that you have time to react, slow down and by the next press of the Laser trigger they get a normal reading, hopefully you should have decreased speed and be fully legal by this time. (In my own experience I have never got a second look when passing the enforcement / police officer after activation as the second reading is fine).

Please remember lots of things are illegal but we may all still do something at sometime in our lives no matter how small if its illegal its illegal no matter the size of the crime, all I can say is everyone to his own, but should you drive faster than permitted this is a solution.

As for the Valentine 1 this is just a detector but probably the best on the market, (market research and various website) as it has front and rear sensors it is able to tell you exactly what is being detected, and whether it’s in front, behind or to your side. No sure if this is classed as illegal in the UK (most things are these days)

Some quotes from the manufactures websites

Laser pro

The system designed to assist the driver when parking a vehicle and prevent unnecessary damage to the bodywork, as well as warning of approaching hazards the unit can be used to activate other Laser Pro products such as the home security light system available soon. We believe the Laser Pro Park will increase your driving pleasure and keep you and your vehicle safe from unnecessary damage for many years to come.

The unit uses the licence free 904nm laser frequency. The same frequency as used by several motor manufacturers eg. Nissan’s adaptive cruise control system which uses laser to determine the distance immediately in front of the vehicle and to deactivate the cruise control if the stopping distance is considered to be too short. Police laser guns use the same 904 nm frequency also.

Disclaimer :
It has come to our attention that some customers have been using this device as a laser jammer because it may interfere with other laser systems such as Police laser guns. The Laser Pro is sold as a parking sensor and should only be used for that purpose. If it detects that it is being 'hit' with a laser gun or other type of laser system it will assess the threat and warn you that this is happening and then shut itself down after a given period. It will re-arm itself after 60 seconds.

Valentine 1

successful defense begins with good intelligence about the enemy. Valentine One has a patented warning system relying on both forward- and rearward-facing radar antennas (front and rear laser sensors too). It goes beyond Ordinary Radar Detectors by telling you -- on every alert -- where to look, and how many to look for. Once you have this intelligence report, you can easily decide when to defend, and when you can simply shrug off a non-threatening alarm.

Please remember these can be ilegal to use in some countries.

Mate its the dog testicals... HONEST.. been running it for ages now, and ............ well I'm not going to tempt fate..... and say it .... but think you know what i mean... it has given me loads of warnings....

the laser pro is excellent in the fact it turns the radio off and sets off a buzzer/bleeper getting your full attention.
.

more info, from my other posts...

The Laser pro, doesnt return an error code, this i can confirm as i have double checked it at work with our laser gun, dont ask me how it does but it works. more info check out the website link
http://www.laserprotector.com/

The Guns we use here at work are UK spec and come from the UK, They belong to the UK Military so not sure why we don’t get any error reading and the ones ( the same ones) there will show up any different, I can only speak for what I have seen.

I have put the laser pro link below which states “

Well we set off down to the road we use for all our laser tests and had a pop at the Laser PRO-PARK in the same manor we would on a traditional device and guess what, this parking sensor has a sting in the tail, diddly squat, no speed reading in any shape or form. Another interesting fact is that we never got a jam code either on the guns we used. (UK approved guns)

Now we thought, let’s hit it with the stealth setting of a laser gun we have to play with at the moment, now most jammers at this point fail so we did not expect the Laser PRO-PARK to work either. The sting is the tail is rather more powerful than expected; the stealth setting of the gun still gave us no reading.”

http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/laserpropark.htm

They do state on the website you refer to;
There is no law as yet regarding the purchase of a Laser Jammer or the fitting of one on a motor vehicle. (As of Jan 2009) However the first arrest was made in February 2003 regarding the use of a Laser Jammer. The person was arrested for "Perverting the course of Justice" nothing really came of it in court.

Laser detector is one of the useful device for speed detector, after activation it gives a beep so that it let us know that speed has been exceeded.
